Intro to Blacksmithing
In its fifth year! Taught by an FCTS Welding teacher/ blacksmith who has taught
these skills to Boy Scouts and other youth. This is an introduction to
blacksmithing. Students will heat, forge, and shape steel to make varying
projects including BBQ forks, fire poker, hooks, plant holders, etc.
 
Hair, Nails & Beauty Fun
Taught by FCTS Cosmetology teachers. In this summer program students will
explore the foundation of cosmetology, through a variety of technical skills which
include hair, skin and nails. Students will learn a variety of braiding techniques,
nail care which includes nail design, make up applications, and how to properly
shampoo/condition and style their hair.
 
Creating Digital Comics
A former Marvel Artist teaches storytelling, character and environment in making
a comic story. These will then be posted on line as a digital comic.
 
Intro to Video Game Design - NEW
Students will learn game design basics and create their own multi-level game
using gamefront.
 
Exploring Melody & Rhythm - NEW
This class will include the students playing basic rhythms on rhythm sticks,
creating their own rhythms, notating them, and presenting them. We will also
identify notes on the treble clef and create single line melodies.
 
Exploring Song Structure in Popular Music - NEW
This class will delve into the topic of song structure in popular music. We will
learn the main parts of a song and listen to several examples to show
variations. This will also include music appreciation. Students will think of
their favorite songs and why they like them so much (lyrics, beat, emotion,
etc). We will listen to these songs, analyze the song structure, and share what
we like about them.
 
Expeditions - (Summits last year)
"Expeditions" will focus on daily trips to the locations in Franklin County that
make our Western Massachusetts home a special place: mountain top
summits, the 5 College campuses, historic sites, and unique business will be
our destinations. Some journaling and the construction of a photo album will
complete our week-long journey. (This is an AM & PM Class - $180 - ONLY 12
allowed in the class.)
 
Crochet Animals - NEW
Students will learn the basics of amigurumi crochet and will complete a series of
animal projects to develop their skills.
 
Custom Flames Mailbox - NEW
This class is taught by one of our Collision and Repair shop teachers. Students
will learn basic refinish techniques and also how to paint custom flames, all
mailbox!
 
Intro to Welding - NEW
Taught by one of FCTS Welding teachers! Students will learn basic MIG welding
and Oxy-Acetylene welding through hands-on engagement. STudents will be able
to complete at least one project to take home and showcase the skills they
acquired.
 
Recreational Games & Activities
This class is a combination of gym class and recess together making a fun and
active program. This camp is taught by a licensed FCTS Physical Education
Teacher and Coach.
 
Field Hockey
Field Hockey will be taught and reviewed, learning the basics of the game.
Students will learn stick skills and shooting techniques, along with learning to
play offensively and defensively.
 
Cooking for Kids - BACK AGAIN
Taught by one of our Culinary Teachers! Cooking techniques will be learned
using math, science, sanitation and time management.Students will learn to
cook quesadillas, pizza and more.
 
Baking for Kids - BACK AGAIN
Taught by one of our Culinary Teachers! Baking techniques will be learned
using math, science, sanitation and time management. Students will learn to
bake cookies, cupcakes and more.
 
3D Printing & Design - NEW
Students will participate in 3D design projects, creating models and drawings.
Models will be 3D printed. The class culminates in a model chosen by the
student.
 
Handcraft a Candy Dispenser - NEW
Taught by one of our Carpentry teachers! Students will learn how to use tools,
such as a hammer, saw, to nail properly and learn to read a ruler. They will build a
candy dispenser out of wood from scratch to fill with candy and take hom
 
Low Voltage Electrical - NEW
Taught by one of our Electrical teachers! Students will learn about shop safety
and how to use basic hand tools to install switches, chimes, and indicator lights.
 
Construct a Bluebird Nesting House - NEW
Taught by one of our Carpentry teachers! Students will learn how to use tools,
such as a hammer, saw, to nail properly and learn to read a ruler.
They will discuss the size hole a birdhouse needs to be to attract a bluebird along with discussions on bluebirds.
 
Pickleball Academy: Master the Court - NEW
Students will dive into all aspects of pickleball, from mastering basic techniques like serving,
dinking, and volleying to developing advanced strategies for positioning and shot placement.
Students wil learn various drills and real-game scenarios, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship,
and the importance of having fun while learning.
