Our Instructors

The Electrical Program Instructors, Alec Jillson, Josh LaCosse, and Luis Arroyo are developing a top-quality program that is current with the needs of the business community, driven to best serve the educational experience of students, and guided by the Massachusetts frameworks.   Our instructors are excited about integrating green technologies into the curriculum, including photo voltaic installation, renewable energy, and conservation.

Alec Jillson - Electrical Instructor

Alec Jillson returned to his alma mater (2009) to teach in the Franklin County Technical School Electrical Program in 2020, and is currently instructor for the shop's student field projects.

Before joining the FCTS vocational faculty, Alec worked as an electrician in the private sector. He got his start as an electrical apprentice while a student at FCTS at Palmeri Electric in Shelburne Falls, MA, and then spent three years doing commercial and residential electrical wiring. In 2012, Alec joined Crocker Communications in Greenfield, MA where he learned industrial wiring, network cabling, and fiber optic splicing.

Alec holds basic OSHA health and safety certifications, aerial work platform equipment, leadership skills, and conflict resolution. He is currently studying towards his master's electrician certificate and his teaching license.

Alec completed the Electrical Journeyman Certificate Program at Greenfield Community College in 2013 and is a licensed journeyman electrician in Massachusetts. He received his Master's Electrical license in December of 2021. He also received his preliminary teaching license in July of 2022.

Alec is proud to form part of the FCTS faculty as an alum. He aims to instill a growth mindset and employability skills in his students by practicing empathy and patience in his teaching.

Luis Arroyo - Electrical Instructor

Luis joined the Electrical Shop teaching staff in 2022.  He is a strong advocate of vocational instruction and is always happy to share his wealth of experience with students.

Luis Arroyo is a 1997 graduate of William J. Dean Technical High School's electrical program. Luis has been in the electrical industry for over 28 years and currently owns a small electrical contracting business. In 2011, he pursued a career in the educational field and has since obtained his professional teaching license in the state of Massachusetts. He has worked for three school districts in the last twelve years including Putnam Vocational High School, Dean Tech, and Franklin County Technical School. Luis currently has his certification in OSHA 10 safety training and CPR.

Luis genuinely enjoys training the new generation of electrical apprentices and tirelessly continues to seek field trip opportunities, Co-op positions, and new training opportunities on renewal energy. One of his future goals is to earn a bachelor's degree in occupational education to seek employment as a Career Technical Education Director.
