The CTI House Carpentry program at FCTS will be based upon a 230-hour, 12-week, industry-standard curriculum. Real-world knowledge and skills useful for multiple career pathways will be presented. Safety is of paramount importance and CTI participants will begin their training with a strong foundation of safety measures. This course includes practice of fundamentals: measuring and layout, hand tools, stationary machines, and portable power tools. Building upon these critical skills, the emphasis then turns to residential construction techniques. Hands-on, scaled models of the major systems of a house will be built using actual construction materials and small construction crews. As students collaborate on these projects, employability skills and math skills will be embedded in the instruction. Certifications include OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification and Basic SP2 Certifications.
