Mr. Passiglia grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Joel Barlow high school in 1988 and then Umass Amherst with a bachelors of fine arts degree in metal sculpture. He lives locally with wife and two children.
He has been metal working for over twenty five years, working in various metal fabrication shops. He also has his own blacksmithing business, Pierce Street Ironworks in Greenfield, specializing in custom forged wrought iron. Mr. P. has also been a shop teacher for the last fifteen years, recently earning a masters' degree in Industrial Technology from Fitchburg State. Over the years he has taught wood and metal shop, CAD, blacksmithing, engineering design, and blueprint reading as part of GCC's Foundations of Manufacturing course.
Mr. Passiglia is also very involved with local industrial history and is the chairman of the Greenfield Historical commission. As an Eagle scout, Mr. P. is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster for local Boy Scout Troop 5 from Greenfield where he shares his skills in teaching blacksmithing to scouts.
