The Pre-Employment Program Instructors provide instruction in English Language Arts, Pre-Algebra, Biology, History, Current Events, Life Skills, Social Skills, Vocational Skills, Life Skills, and Critical Thinking Skills.
(Mr. C for short): Mr. C never thought that he would become a teacher and his life path shows that: Grocery clerk to meat wrapper, to meat cutter, to radio advertising sales, to disc jockey, to account relations manager, to working in a residential program for kids that have a wide range of physical, mental, behavioral and emotional problems. He started his teaching career as a teacher at Linden Hill School, a boarding school for boys primarily with dyslexia. He then taught at NEARI School in Holyoke, working with students with emotional and behavioral needs. Currently, he has been the lead academic instructor in the Pre-Employment Program for the last 8 years. Mr. C loves teaching Biology, Math, English, History, and life/social skills. He loves seeing the excitement in his student’s eyes when they learn something new. He has been teaching in special education for the last 15 years. In Mr. C’s free time, he loves going to Maine, spending time with family, gardening, fishing, and kayaking.
Mr. Foisy’s career after college included working within the construction and home remodeling industries. He also gained valuable knowledge in the auto collision repair industry working as a general repair technician. This is his 14th year at FCTS, seven of which were in Auto Collision Repair and painting. Mr. Foisy brings all of his diverse skills to the Pre-Employment Program, as the vocational instructor. His teaching philosophy centers on a solid work ethic for student success. Skills learned throughout the vocational shop include safety in the workplace, woodworking, auto detailing, candle making, landscaping, and general building maintenance. Mr. Foisy enjoys seeing the excitement of achievement from all of his student accomplishments. In his free time, Mr. Foisy enjoys restoring classic Corvettes from the '50s and '60s, playing drums and guitar, hiking the White Mountains, and is currently studying to acquire his private pilot’s license.
Ms. Stafford has worked in the Pre-Employment Program (PEP) for over 12 years. She has been at FCTS for the last 19 years. She brings many academic teaching methods to our team, which differentiates among many learning styles. Ms. Stafford has a special artistic ability which she loves to share and teach to the class.
