Independent Reading Program
The goal of the Independent Reading Program is to encourage students to become lifelong readers and learners while developing their literacy skills. The I.R.P. provides teachers with the ability to track student growth while emphasizing the importance of student choice. Every student at FCTS reads at least one book per semester, with the expectation that students will read two books per semester, and these books are individually selected by the student according to their interests and reading level. I.R.P. books are then integrated into the reading, writing, speaking, and listening assessments within the classroom.
